Under the comprosser is the alternator. You don't have to un hook it but you do have to take the belt off and the belt is the hardest part in this whole job
The alternator is located in the right corner under the air condition compressorvery easy to to un bolt but the 3 nuts located in the indide after u un bolt it mite be a little hard it was a #10
For this 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo edition we needed to do an alternator. At first I thought it was the battery cause the guy could not start the truck. So I jump started him and the truck started but died in a few minutes
